” Most training I’ve attended before can be quite dragging and tad monotonous that it would be so hard to concentrate at the topic discussed. In this Manual Handling Training, however, it was all just the opposite. It’s nice to have a small group that the ambience becomes somehow inclusive, the getting to know first makes the start warm and welcoming, we easily relax afterwards and then to talk to those who have a past issue, say, like me on having an injury, makes it the more personal for me to learn and be more engaging as I see how the speaker/trainer/teacher (you, sister Lanre) mold our experiences to the topic at hand. ”

And I thought I knew a lot.. the updates and refresher course makes me more conscious at really thinking of myself first and foremost before the patient. Sometimes we need to be nudged on taking risk assessment before doing manual handling to a patient. That now I will be keeping in mind..

Then comes the best parts of the training, spewed one word from another, how tos and best way. The correct way , maybe the right word, as most of us in the group agreed that we were doing manual handling the wrong way, from using zimmer frame to where we position ourselves. We learned why sliding sheets are our best friends. The best part was how to use the hoist and the pat slides. That really made us more at awe at how easy would everything be if indeed we knew all along the right manual handling way. Refresher do strengthen what we knew and learned before, but updates do indeed gives us that kind of upper hand so to speak? That confidence to do the right and easier way.

I am really so glad to have attended this training . And to sister Lanre, you are a very engaging, wonderful and empowering teacher. Thank you so much. I learned a lot today. “
